Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick oatmeal
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cake yeast dissolved in ½ cup lukewarm water
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp lard
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 4 tbsp molasses

Instructions

  • Scald oatmeal in boiling water. Cool.
  • Add remaining ingredients.
  • Let rise until double.
  • Put into pans and let rise again.
  • Bake at 350° for 1 hour.

Notes

Makes 2 loaves.
