Ingredients

shortening

sugar

molasses

salt

cinnamon

ginger

flour
1
cup
hot water
2
tsp
soda
Instructions
Cream shortening and sugar; add unbeaten egg and blend in molasses.
Mix all spices, flour and salt.
Dissolve soda in hot water and alternately mix dry ingredients and soda-water mixture into shortening mixture.
Chill dough and drop by teaspoonfulls.
Bake at 350°.
Notes
May be frosted with powdered sugar frosting.
