Ingredients

  • 2¼ cup flour sifted
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¾ cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup nuts chopped
  • 1 cup dates chopped
  • ⅓ cup maraschino cherries chopped
  • 2½ cups corn flakes crushed

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt together into bowl.
  • Using an electric mixer, beat shortening, sugar, eggs, milk, and vannilla in another bowl. Add flour mixture and mix well.
  • Stir in nuts, dates and cherries. Shape dough into small balls and roll in cornflakes.
  • Place on cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
  • While warm, top each cookie with half a maraschino cherry.
