Apple Rum Dum
Ingredients
Apple Rum Dum
- 1 cup sugar
- ¼ cup shortening
- 1 egg
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp soda
- ½ tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ½ cup nuts
- 2 cups chopped apples
Caramel Sauce
- ½ cup white sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup light cream
- 1 tsp vanilla
- ¼ cup butter
Instructions
Apple Rum Dum
- Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg, then dry ingredients.
- Blend in nuts and apples.
- Bake in 9-inch square pan at 350° for 40-45 minutes.
- Cut into squares and serve with caramel sauce.
Caramel Sauce
- Combine in saucepan. Bring to boil for 2 minutes (or longer).
- Serve hot.
