Ginger Cream Cookies
Ingredients
- ½ cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup molasses
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp cloves
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp ginger
- 4 cups flour
- 1 cup hot water
- 2 tsp soda
Instructions
- Cream shortening and sugar; add unbeaten egg and blend in molasses.
- Mix all spices, flour and salt.
- Dissolve soda in hot water and alternately mix dry ingredients and soda-water mixture into shortening mixture.
- Chill dough and drop by teaspoonfulls.
- Bake at 350°.
Notes
May be frosted with powdered sugar frosting.
